BoatPlanner & Sustainable Sailing

Search for certified boats, bareboat or skippered.

Sustainable sailing is a fundamental pillar in BoatPlanner’s strategic values and an integral part of our daily business activity.

The thrill of the open sea has at times been overshadowed by concerns about the environmental impact.

BoatPlanner is committed to navigating the waters of change!

We abide by the principles of responsible seafaring and we adopt eco-friendly practices to make it happen.

Our company endeavors to impart this same awareness to our customers, suppliers, and partners, ushering in a new era in the marine industry.

If you share our values, come on board, to combine the pleasures of sailing with a commitment to preserving the marine environment and reducing the carbon footprint.

Our eco-sailing manifesto

At BoatPlanner we advocate for environmental stewardship and we promote the principles of low-impact tourism, transparency, innovation, and research. If you are interested, learn and engage!

  • Eco-friendly Yachts: If possible choose yachts and vessels that prioritize eco-friendly design and technologies. Look for sailboats with energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials, and low-emission engines.
  • Responsible Waste Management: Properly manage waste on board by recycling, reusing, and reducing single-use plastics. Dispose of waste at designated ports with recycling facilities.
  • Efficient Energy Use: Minimize energy consumption by using renewable energy sources, such as solar panels or wind turbines, if available, for onboard electricity needs. Use energy-efficient LED lighting.
  • Sustainable Navigation Plan routes to minimize fuel consumption, avoid sensitive marine ecosystems, and reduce the risk of running aground. Sail whenever possible to reduce reliance on motor power.
  • Conservation of Water: Conserve freshwater resources by using water-saving fixtures and reusing graywater. Use onboard desalination systems or stock up on fresh water at ports that promote sustainable water practices.
  • Marine Life Protection: Avoid anchoring in protected marine areas and coral reefs. Follow local regulations to protect marine life and habitats.
  • Reduced Emissions: Limit greenhouse gas emissions by  reducing engine usage, and maintaining engines properly. Participate in carbon offset programs, if available.
  • Minimized Discharge: Be mindful of sewage discharge and use onboard sewage treatment systems. Follow no-discharge zones and regulations.
  • Educational Outreach: Educate passengers and crew about sustainable sailing practices, marine conservation, and responsible tourism.
  • Local Engagement: Support local sustainable businesses and engage with coastal communities to contribute to their conservation efforts.
  • Eco-conscious Provisions: Choose provisions that are sustainably sourced and reduce packaging waste.
  • Monitoring Weather and Sea Conditions: Stay informed about weather patterns and sea conditions to enhance safety and reduce the environmental impact.
  • Waste Cleanup: Participate in beach and coastal cleanups to remove marine debris and plastics.

By adopting sustainable sailing practices, BoatPlanner and our extensive network of suppliers, customers, and partners can play a vital role in safeguarding our oceans, curbing our carbon emissions, and conserving the natural beauty of the marine environment for future generations to enjoy.

Together we can foster community involvement and strengthen our collective impact.
